Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)
The Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) is a student led association for students that participate in course of study geared toward a future in a helthcare profession. The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality healthcare by providing knowedge, skill and leadership development.
On March 12, 13, & 14, 2014, 3 members of HOSA will be competing attending the 35th PENN HOSA State Leadership Conference at the Lancaster Host Resort & Conference Center in Lancaster, PA. Kourage Norris will compete in an extemporaneous poster contest, which she took first place at last year's conference. She will be provided with a healthcare related topic and must create a poster based upon that topic. Kasia Butts will compete in the medical terminology test, in which she will be quizzed on her knowledge of medical terms. Kenisha Holloway will be our voting delegate for this years competition. Wish luck to all of these ladies at they prepare for their competition.
Health Occupations students also assisted with the two blood drives at the high school. The students received four hours of training to work as assistants with blood donors on the floor and to provide snacks to donors in the canteen after donation. This was a resounding great experience for those students who volunteered and those who donated! The blood drive was much success and donations exceeded the goal. Enough bood was donated to save 186 lives.
